Marcia Smith

Marcia Smith was appointed Senior Vice President, Sustainability and External Affairs of Teck in January 2012. She joined Teck in 2010 as Vice President, Corporate Affairs.
Prior to joining Teck, Ms. Smith was Managing Partner for National Public Relations in British Columbia and its predecessor company, Labrador Communications, from 1993 to 2010. Ms. Smith has also worked for the Governments of Ontario and British Columbia as an advisor to cabinet ministers in a variety of portfolios.
Ms. Smith holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and Political Science from Laurentian University. She is also a member of a Committee of Special Advisors to the BC Government on British Columbia’s Labour Code.

Andy Taylor is the Chief Administrative Officer for the City of Markham reporting to the Mayor and Council. He leads the Corporation with his Executive Leadership Team consisting of the Commissioners of Corporate Services, Development Services and Community & Fire Services. Also reporting directly to him are the Director of Human Resources and the Town Solicitor.
Markham, known as the High-Tech capital of Canada, is a municipality of more than 330,000 residents centrally located in the Greater Toronto Area. Markham is Canada’s most diverse community and is home to many of Canada’s leading life science and technology businesses. Recipient of a 2010 Canada Award for Excellence – Silver for outstanding achievements in quality, customer service, and a healthy workplace, Markham is renowned for its rich heritage, vibrant neighbourhoods and leadership on the environment and urban design.
Andy is an Excellence Canada champion, sits on the Board of Governors of Excellence Canada and also sits on the Board of Directors of the Markham Board of Trade and the New Unionville Home Society Board of Directors. He is the President of Markham Enterprises Corporation and the Treasurer of Markham District Energy Inc. Markham was the first large municipality in North America to use the Internet in a binding election in 2003 and continued its use for all subsequent elections. Andy has been instrumental in introducing numerous e-government solutions to Markham including the launch of the Markham Portal Website in June 2011.
Andy holds a wealth of experience in both the public and private sector. Prior to joining the Town in 1992, he worked 10 years in the private sector in senior positions. Andy obtained his Chartered Accountant (C.A.) designation with Deloitte Chartered Accountants, earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Toronto and an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Windsor.

In October 2012, Allyson celebrated 30 years with the Ontario Public Service.
The majority of Allyson’s career has been spent in the field of human resources and organizational effectiveness where she has managed staff in most functional areas including: strategic workforce planning; staffing and position management; learning and development; and labour relations. As Director of the Ministry of Finance’s Strategic H.R. Services Branch, she and her team were awarded certification at Levels 2 and 3 in the Excellence Canada (formerly National Quality Institute) Progressive Excellence Program® (PEP), and also met the eligibility criteria for Canada Awards for Excellence Silver Certificate.
Effective January of 2013, Allyson assumed a new position as Director, Organizational Transformation Branch with the Ontario Ministry of Government Services, where she is responsible for establishing an enterprise-wide branch which will provide direct services to deputy ministers as they undertake large-scale organizational transformations. She is also responsible for building organizational transformation capacity across the OPS.

Mary Tonkovic is Director of Quality at Purolator. Since joining Purolator Inc. in 1991, Mary has held increasingly senior positions within Operations, Engineering, and Service Management and was named to her current position in 2005.
During her tenure, Mary has successfully led numerous organizational initiatives benefiting both customers and employees. In 2002, Mary led the initiative to register all of Purolator’s processes to ISO 9001:2000. As a result of this initiative Purolator pursued and achieved Q1 supplier status and received the World Quality Award from Ford Motor Company. Also under Mary’s lead, Purolator was recognized by Excellence Canada (formerly National Quality Institute) in 2005, with the Canada Awards for Excellence Bronze Award in Quality. Mary is a graduate of McMaster University’ Bachelor of Arts and has continued her professional development throughout her career through Continuing Education Certifications, Leadership programs and Lead Six Sigma certification.
