John Perry

Senior Advisor and Vice President
National Quality Institute

John Perry is a Senior Advisor and Vice President of the National Quality Institute (NQI). He is Chair of Adjudication of the Canada Awards for Excellence and NQI PEP® certification, and has chaired the design committee for private and public sector Canada Awards for Excellence Quality Frameworks.

Mr. Perry led the development of the Canadian Healthy Workplace® Criteria, in association with Health Canada. He wrote the widely-used NQI Progressive Excellence Program (NQI PEP® ), the four-step implementation program and certification process for NQI Quality and Healthy Workplace® Criteria, as well as Quality and Healthy Workplace® Criteria (integrated) for various sectors, including health care, municipalities, business, and the public sector.

In partnership with the Toronto District School Board, John Perry led the development of the Canadian Excellence in Education Program, a four-step implementation and certification process on quality principles and practices for schools.

Mr. Perry assisted the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business in the development of the Progressive Aboriginal Relations (PAR) Certification Program. He is author of Five Steps to Improving a Process, available from NQI, plus numerous articles on quality and healthy workplace issues.

Prior to his work at National Quality Institute, Mr. Perry served in several senior management positions within the transportation industry, in four countries. He also led the implementation of a quality management focus at a national transport company that led to a Canada Awards for Excellence Award, becoming the first service company in North America to receive national quality award recognition.

John Perry is a recipient of the Canada Awards for Excellence Individual Recognition of Achievement Award, in recognition of his outstanding performance in the advancement of the quality of life of Canadians. He was presented the national Who’s Who in Healthcare Award from Canadian Healthcare Manager magazine, for his work on Healthy Workplace® criteria design, promotion, and implementation.
