Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean C.C., C.M.M., C.O.M., C.D., becomes Patron of the National Quality Institute’s Canada Awards for Excellence.
Allan Ebedes, President and CEO of the National Quality Institute and the Canada Awards for Excellence, is pleased to announce that Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean has agreed to extend her patronage to the Canada Awards for Excellence.
“On behalf of the Board of Governors, our partners, members and dedicated staff, the National Quality Institute is honoured that the Governor General of Canada has bestowed vice-regal patronage to the Canada Awards for Excellence,” said Mr. Ebedes. “The Governor General represents the very highest standards of ethics and integrity, the very same standards for which the recipients of the Canada Awards for Excellence strive.”
Since 1984, the Canada Awards for Excellence have been presented annually to private, public and not-for-profit organizations that have displayed outstanding performance in the areas of Quality and/or Healthy Workplaces. Over 300 organizations have received the Canada Awards for Excellence, and they have made a significant contribution to the quality of life for all Canadians.
“The Awards recognize that the role of the workplace in Canada has grown to include greater responsibility for the health and wellness of not only their own employees, but for the community as a whole,” said Mr. Ebedes.
Canada Awards for Excellence applicants are evaluated through an independent adjudication process, and each application is judged against the national standards set by the National Quality Institute. Applicants do not compete with one another, but rather are evaluated by each organization’s progress against the National Quality Institute’s criteria, with the result that there can be multiple winners each year.
