CAE - How to Apply

1. Before You Get Started

Prior to application, organizations must conduct an assessment against the CAE criteria. Should the organization wish to do this on its own, the process for self-assessment is outlined in the assessment workbook provided with application. Assessments usually consist of online surveys (available from NQI) and cross-functional and multi-location focus groups. Scores must also be complied for each criteria section. NQI provides assessment services. We strongly recommend you contact NQI for help. Results of the assessment and scores should be attached to the CAE application (new requirement).

How can you find out more about a full CAE Self-Assessment?

• If you wish hands-on assistance, an organizational assessment can be facilitated by NQI or by one of our Certified Assessors.

To become familiar with the CAE Criteria, you and the others in your organization involved in this application can take the online:

• Introduction to the Framework for Excellence - Online Learning
• Introduction to the Healthy Workplace Criteria - Online Learning

As well, you can take the following in-class training:

• Framework for Excellence (Quality)
• Healthy Workplace Implementation Workshop

For organizations in the NQI PEP program, successful achievement of NQI PEP Level 3 will be an opportunity to apply for the CAE and you may be recognized at the Bronze or Silver Level. Organizations at NQI PEP 4 may receive Gold recognition. The NQI PEP application should be completed by the fall preceding the deadline. 2. Get the right material that you will need to prepare your submission. (material associated with each category in the table below)

3. Prepare your Submission

• Use the Application Package and the accompanying disk to complete your application.
• Use the appropriate Criteria
  • Canadian Framework for Business Excellence
  • Canadian Quality Criteria for Public Sector Excellence,
  • Canadian Healthy Workplace Criteria
  • Canadian Excellence in Education Criteria
  • 10 Point Healthy Workplace Criteria for Small Organizations

5. Deliver 5 copies of your completed submission to NQI

• by noon EST on April 30, 2007
• Include with the five (5) copies of your submission and an electronic copy, your completed application form, and appropriate payment.

6. Circle the Awards Presentation date on your calendar!!
