Jon Babulic is The City of Barrie’s CAO, hired in 2007 to lead the Corporation through a change management initiative for Canada’s fastest growing community. Jon’s professional portfolio boasts over 30 years of progressive management experience in the private sector leading up to his appointment of Commissioner of Community Services for the Corporation of The City of Barrie.

Prior to joining The City of Barrie, Jon was CEO and President of Expertech, a multi-million dollar corporation, where he successfully spearheaded corporate acquisitions, strategic alliances and labour agreements. Under his leadership, the company’s annual revenues grew from approximately $120 million to more than $480 million. Leading almost 3,000 employees internationally, he established offices coast to coast in Canada and subsidiaries in the United States, Australia, and the Cayman Islands.

Jon has provided leadership and strategic direction in all aspects of corporate and operational management including the design and construction of the first trans-Canada fibre optics facility. He has also contributed technical and strategic counsel for the development of project proposals that included implementation plans spanning across Canada as well as in Saudi Arabia, Mexico and New Zealand. Ruby Brown has recently joined the Trillium Health Centre as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. She has over 25 years of experience across all health care sectors, including acute, long term care, community, and mental health in Alberta, British Columbia and the Northwest Territories.

Prior to her arrival in Ontario, Ruby served as Vice President for the Alberta Mental Health Board. Kathryn Cestnick is a senior administrative and financial executive who has worked in both the private and not-for-profit sectors. Kathryn has extensive knowledge in administration, and practices quality and healthy workplace management principles and practices in her everyday life. Since joining NQI in 1999, she has conducted many workshops in quality and healthy workplace, and has extensively assessed organizations against the NQI criteria, both for NQI PEP® and the Canada Awards for Excellence.

In her previous consultancy practice, she worked with all size organizations helping them improve what they do. She has also held senior positions including Vice President Administration at two Community Colleges and Chief Operating Officer at one of Canada's largest Law Firms.

Michael Coates is a member of Hill & Knowlton on the Global Council and CEOof the Canadian company, the third largest profit centre by country within Hill & Knowlton.

Since becoming president and CEO of Hill & Knowlton Canada in 1995, Michael has lead a process of change that has moved the company to an extended period of growth in its practice and geographical communications offerings.

Hill & Knowlton’s selections as one of Canada’s top 100 employers and its recent Canadian Award for Excellence are evidence of the success of his leadership.

Michael’s consulting career began in 1983 as a consultant with Public Affairs International. He became general manager of the Ottawa office shortly after Public Affairs International merged with Hill & Knowlton in 1989.

Kevin P. Dougherty is President of Sun Life Financial Canada, and President of Sun Life Global Investments (SLGI).

As President of Sun Life Financial Canada, Mr. Dougherty heads up the Company’s Canadian operations which have a relationship with one in five Canadians across its group benefits, group retirement, and individual wealth, insurance, and investment management businesses. Mr. Dougherty assumed this position in January 2010, following an earlier period leading the Canadian business during 2004-2007, and then the Company’s global asset management businesses during 2008-2009.

Mr. Dougherty assumed the role of President of Sun Life Global Investments in 2008. In this role, he continues to be responsible for leveraging the Company’s interests in its affiliated asset management companies, MFS in the U.S., McLean Budden in Canada, and Birla Sun Life Asset Management in India, as well as overseeing its third-party asset management platform. SLGI is focused on the evolution of the asset management businesses underlying Sun Life’s global operations, and accelerating the Company’s continuing growth in wealth management.

Allan immigrated to Canada from Johannesburg, South Africa in 1973. He earned an MBA degree from the University of Toronto, and qualified as a Chartered Accountant while articling with Coopers & Lybrand, Chartered Accountants.

However, accounting did not fulfil Allan’s entrepreneurial spirit and he became a partner in Stuarts Furniture & Appliances, a small furniture and appliance chain, which grew significantly and was subsequently sold to The Brick.

In 1979 Allan started the Toronto School of Business, a career college. Under the banner of International Business Schools, the company grew to become the largest chain of private career colleges in Canada, with 50 locations coast-to-coast training more than 10,000 adult students per year for new and exciting careers. Ten years later, Allan took the company public on the NASDAQ stock exchange. Under his leadership, International Business Schools trained over a quarter of a million adult students.

Allan is also the founder and CEO of Management Mentors International Inc. (MMI), a corporate training and development organization that is dedicated to “helping managers build better businesses and better lives”. Allan serves on the faculty of York University and the Schulich School of Business, and is a Director of the Rotman School of Management MBA IMC program. Ward Griffin is the President and CEO of the Lowe-Martin Group. Located in Ottawa and Toronto, the Lowe-Martin Group is one of the largest Commercial Printing Companies in Canada. Pat Horgan leads our manufacturing, development and Corporate operations - including our Bromont Lab, Software Labs, Government Programs, CIO Office and the Integrated Supply Chain for IBM Canada. In this position, Pat reports to the GM of IBM Canada, and among many initiatives leads our Corporate Social Responsibility program including our environmental efforts. Pat has served on committees focused on the advancement of the IT Industry in Canada, and has held a wide range of positions both in Canada and internationally for IBM.

Jill Hutcheon joined the Workplace Safety & Insurance Board
(WSIB) in February 2003 as Vice President of the Policy and Research
Division. In September 2003, she was made Chief Corporate Services
Officer. In this capacity,Jill was responsible for the Policy and
Research Division, the Human Resources Division, the Legal Services
Division and the Communications Division. In March 2004, she was
appointed Interim Chair of the Board and seven months later was
named President of the WSIB.
Prior to arriving at the WSIB,Jill was the Deputy Minister of Labour
from 1999 to 2003. While a Deputy Minister, she was appointed to
the Executive Development Committee/Civil Service Commission
and was the Executive Lead for the OPS Spirit Team, as well as a
member of the Deputy Ministers' Leadership Group on renewal and
revitalization in the OPS. During this time, she also served as the
President of the Canadian Association of Administrators of Labour
Legislation.

Prior to the Ministry of Labour, Jill was Assistant Deputy
Minister of the Safety and Regulation Division of the Ministry
of Transportation and Registrar of Motor Vehicles for Ontario.
She also served as President of the Canadian Council of Motor
Transport Administrators. At the Ministry of Transportation, Jill
had responsibility for the development of policy and legislation to
enhance road user safety. This included commercial vehicle safety and anti-drinking and driving measures, and managing driver and vehicle services offered through public offices and private issuers across Ontario.

Cameron Hyde is senior vice president of Xerox Global Accounts Operations, named to this position in January 2009. Hyde is responsible for this organization, a division of Xerox Global Services. GAO provides enhanced worldwide focus and support to Xerox’s premiere global accounts. Hyde also serves as a corporate vice president.

Hyde joined Xerox in 1975 as a sales representative in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Since then he has held a wide variety of sales, general management and marketing positions in Canada and the United States.

Hyde was president of North American Partners Group, including agent, reseller and dealer channels from 2007 through 2008. From 2003 until 2007 Hyde was senior vice president and general manger, Xerox North American Agent Operations and the North American Dealer Channel. He was president and CEO of Xerox Canada Ltd. from 2000 to 2003.

Prior to 2003 Hyde held positions including vice president, Xerox Business Services; vice president and general manager of both Xerox British Columbia and Greater Toronto Area customer business units in Canada; and vice president, global accounts, Industrial Business Operations in New York.

Irene Jaroszuk holds the position of Vice President of Business Excellence for Ceridian’s Canadian Business Unit. In this role, she is responsible for continuously improving the customer experience, creating sustainable, repeatable, and reliable business processes, applying Lean Six Sigma to accelerate change, and delivering on Ceridian’s strategic initiatives. She assumed this role in May 2008.

Ms. Jaroszuk has held positions of increasing management responsibility since joining Ceridian in 1998. Prior to her current role, she held a leadership role in establishing Ceridian’s HR outsourcing practice in Canada. She was instrumental in the achievement of triple digit revenue growth over a three year period for this emerging line of business.

He has both a BSc engineering electronics degree and a diploma in management from McGill University. Ken previously held positions as President and CEO of NBS Technologies, a company with annual sales of $C140 million. Prior to this, he was Chairman of AlliedSignal Canada Inc, and CEO of AlliedSignal Aerospace Canada, a subsidiary of AlliedSignal of Morristown NJ.

Ken is Chairman of the Advisory Committee of SIPA, the Small Investor Protection Association and runs www.canadianlfundwatch.com to help small investors deal with the complexities and pitfalls of mutual fund investing. He runs Portfolio Analytics, assisting investors obtain restitution due to sales or broker abuses. Ken founded Kenmar Corporation, a company that provides consulting services to SME’s regarding strategic planning, marketing, Total Quality, operations, and financing. John Lahey joined the Alterna Group (Alterna Savings and Alterna Bank) as the President & CEO in July 2007 after serving as President and Chief Executive Officer of Hamilton based FirstOntario Credit Union. Before that, he spent almost 25 years with CIBC in increasingly senior roles.

John volunteers his time, like many other credit union leaders, in an attempt to contribute positively towards a better credit union system and wider community. He has participated in committees at DICO and CUCO. He is also a former Director of Selient Technologies Inc. and the CUMIS Group, as well as a former Governor of the University of Guelph. John Livey is the Chief Administrative Officer for the Town of Markham, a rapidly growing, vibrant community of 287,000. Markham has the highest proportion of visible minorities in the country, accounting for 65.4% of its population. John’s current responsibilities include overseeing municipal services and ensuring Councils’ strategic priorities are achieved. He has a staff of over 900 permanent employees and manages a $355M budget.

Markham is a progressive municipality, reflecting new urban strategies including the development of the Cornell community and Markham Centre, its new downtown. Markham Centre will be linked by rapid transit to Toronto, connected to Markham District Energy and home to the IBM software labs, Motorola, the Civic Centre, Hilton Suites Hotel and Markham Theatre.

Brian Marson was raised in Vancouver and attended the University of British Columbia, where he received Bachelors and Masters degrees in International Studies and Political Science. Following MPA and PhD studies in Economics and Government at Harvard University, Mr. Marson served as a Research Associate at Harvard’s Center for International Affairs.

A co-founder of Canadian University Service Overseas, he served as Associate Director of CUSO for several years. After serving as a policy advisor to the Federal Minister of Consumer and Corporate Affairs, he subsequently held a number of senior management positions with the federal Treasury Board Secretariat. Before returning to British Columbia, he helped establish the federal Ministry of State for Economic Development, as a Deputy Secretary of the Ministry.

Mr. Marson held senior positions with the Ministry of Finance of the Province of British Columbia, culminating in his appointment as Comptroller General with the mandate to modernize B.C.’s Financial Administration legislation, policies and systems.

Brian Marson has co-authored a Canadian textbook entitled Public Financial Management. He is also co-author of The Well-Performing Government Organization, Good Practices in Citizen Centred Service, and The New Public
Organization (2001). Before returning to the federal public service, Mr. Marson taught for many years as Adjunct Professor of Public Administration at the University of Victoria where he developed a series of innovative courses in Policy Analysis and Excellence in Public Management. He has also taught Public Sector Management in the MPA Program at Queens University. As a result of his teaching, writing and consulting, Brian Marson has become well known across the Canadian public sector and internationally for his advocacy of excellence in public management and in service to the public.

Mr. Marson has served as National President of the Institute of Public Administration of Canada, and as Chair of Service Quality B.C., an initiative of the British Columbia Government to build a customer/client service focus throughout that public service.

Brian Marson returned to the federal Public Service as Vice President of the Canadian Centre for Management Development (now CSPS), with responsibility for Learning Programs and Public Service Renewal. He subsequently led CCMD’s research programs in leadership and citizen-centred service before being appointed to his current position as Senior Advisor, Service Transformation, Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat, where he was responsible for designing and implementing the government’s Service Improvement Policy, and for establishing the Institute for Citizen Centred Service.

In 2006, he received the prestigious inter-governmental Heintzman Leadership Award.

Rob is responsible for developing and driving the business strategy for the Commercial Card business in Canada. Rob is a member of the Canadian Executive team and is responsible for strategically aligning Commercial Card with other American Express Canada business units to deliver high quality products and services.

Rob joined American Express in 1994 and has held several leadership positions within the company including Vice President, Products and Rewards for Consumer Card. Most recently Rob held the position of Vice President, Lending and New Product Development for Consumer Card.

Rob holds a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from the Schulich School of Business and a Bachelor of Commerce (BCOMM) degree from Queen’s University.

David Musyj is the President and CEO of Windsor Regional Hospital. He has been with the Hospital for 10 years. Prior to becoming CEO, David held the position of Vice-President Corporate Services/Medical Affairs.

David is licensed to practice law in both Ontario and the State of Michigan and prior to joining WRH was a partner with the firm of Paroian Ralphael.

Born and raised in Essex County, David is married to Elizabeth who is also a lawyer and is a partner at the Bartlet and Richardes law firm. Elizabeth and David are the proud parents of a son, Maxim, who is nine years old.

Under David’s leadership, the WRH vision Outstanding Care – No Exceptions guides all aspects of care and organization. David believes the engine of WRH is its staff and he is committed to working with them to create a healthy, motivating and rewarding workplace. Jim Peeples joined Purolator in December 1999 as General Manager, Ontario Hubs. He was named to his current position in April, 2004.

Over a two-year period, Mr. Peeples and his team were successful in implementing numerous initiatives benefiting customers and employees, and improving the processes at the Ontario Hubs. Due to the successful business results of the Ontario Hubs, the way was paved for Purolator to organize many of the hubs’ initiatives into a formalized Quality Leadership Process.

In 2002 as Director of National Quality, Jim Peeples led the entire organization to the ISO 9001:2000 registration of all company processes and the achievement of Q1 Supplier status, as well as the World Quality Award from Ford Motor Company.

As Vice President of Quality, Engineering, Technology, Real Estate & Facilities and EH&S, Mr. Peeples focuses on the process or systems approach, where every single process and employee is an integral part of the overall result. “We have an incredible amount of improvement initiatives in place. However, the focused approach of our Quality Leadership Process allows us to put first things first and achieve operational excellence.”

Before joining Purolator, Jim Peeples spent 13 years in numerous operations, engineering, and quality roles in the auto parts manufacturing industry and the oil industry. He received a P. Eng. from St. Francis Xavier and Technical University of Nova Scotia in 1986. Mr. Peeples is blessed with a wife and three children.

John Perry is a Senior Advisor and Vice President of the National Quality Institute (NQI). He is Chair of Adjudication of the Canada Awards for Excellence and NQI PEP® certification, and has chaired the design committee for private and public sector Canada Awards for Excellence Quality Frameworks.

Mr. Perry led the development of the Canadian Healthy Workplace® Criteria, in association with Health Canada. He wrote the widely-used NQI Progressive Excellence Program (NQI PEP® ), the four-step implementation program and certification process for NQI Quality and Healthy Workplace® Criteria, as well as Quality and Healthy Workplace® Criteria (integrated) for various sectors, including health care, municipalities, business, and the public sector.

In partnership with the Toronto District School Board, John Perry led the development of the Canadian Excellence in Education Program, a four-step implementation and certification process on quality principles and practices for schools.

Mr. Perry assisted the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business in the development of the Progressive Aboriginal Relations (PAR) Certification Program. He is author of Five Steps to Improving a Process, available from NQI, plus numerous articles on quality and healthy workplace issues.

Prior to his work at National Quality Institute, Mr. Perry served in several senior management positions within the transportation industry, in four countries. He also led the implementation of a quality management focus at a national transport company that led to a Canada Awards for Excellence Award, becoming the first service company in North America to receive national quality award recognition.

John Perry is a recipient of the Canada Awards for Excellence Individual Recognition of Achievement Award, in recognition of his outstanding performance in the advancement of the quality of life of Canadians. He was presented the national Who’s Who in Healthcare Award from Canadian Healthcare Manager magazine, for his work on Healthy Workplace® criteria design, promotion, and implementation.

In March 2007, Gary Seveny retired as President and Chief Executive Officer of two financial institutions, Alterna Bank of Canada and Alterna Savings and Credit Union, both headquartered in Ottawa with operations in west Quebec and throughout Ontario. A career that spanned 35 years.

Among his many accomplishments, Gary spearheaded the creation of the
chartered bank, Alterna Bank of Canada, and the successful merger of CS
CO-OP and Metro Credit Union to create the new entity Alterna Savings
and Credit Union. Under his stewardship, Alterna rose to 'top of mind' recognition nationally as an industry leader.

Gary was also instrumental in achieving legislative change at both the
provincial and federal levels as it pertains to the financial services
industry. He has been an active spokesperson for industry vision and
regulatory change, and has appeared before House of Commons Committees
and Senate Committees.

Gary is the recipient of several awards and recognitions, including the
United Way Community Builder Recognition in 2007 and the Ottawa Chamber of
Commerce Silver Award for Business Person of the Year in 2002. He is
most known as a visionary and a builder of top management teams.

Gary remains active in business, currently assisting two start-ups to make significant gains towards commercialization. His devotion to community work remains impressive, having added additional Boards and Foundations to his roster.

He has served abroad in Kingston, Belgrade, San Francisco, Seoul and Beijing (as Minister, Commercial/Economic). From 1998-2001, he served as Canadian Ambassador to the Republic of Indonesia.

His assignments at DFAIT Headquarters have included Director, Export Information Division; Acting Director General, Trade Communications Bureau; Director, Trade Development Liaison and Special Projects Division; Co-ordinator, Trade Development Policy Secretariat; and Director General, Trade Commissioner Service Operations and Services. In the Department of International Trade he was Assistant Deputy Minister, International Business and Chief Trade Commissioner. Subsequently, in DFAIT, he was appointed Assistant Deputy Minister, World Markets Branch, and then Assistant Deputy Minister, Global Operations. Effective September 1, 2008, he is appointed Assistant Deputy Minister, Asia and Africa, and Chief Trade Commissioner.

He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Commercial Corporation, the Board of Governors of the National Quality Institute and the Board of Directors of the Canada-China Business Council, the Estey Centre for Law and Economics in International Trade, and the Board of the Trade Facilitation Office Canada.

He was the 1996 recipient of the Minister's Award for Foreign Policy Excellence and received the 1997 Public Service Award of Excellence in Policy Development. In 2005 Mr. Sunquist was awarded the Public Service Award of Excellence in Management. He is married to Carolyn Sunquist and they have two sons.

David has been serving the public for 30 years. As the Chief Administrative
Officer (CAO) of the Region of Peel, David is responsible for the co-ordination of
all administrative and service delivery functions, and for the overall management
of the Regional Corporation. He oversees a diversified organization that
provides essential public services to over one million residents and businesses in
the Cities of Mississauga, Brampton, and Town of Caledon.
Prior to assuming the duties of CAO in October 2005, David served as
Commissioner of Social Services to which he was appointed in January 2002.
David also served as the Region of Peel's Director of Ontario Works since April
1990. Prior to joining Peel, David held positions with the Government of Ontario
and the Region of Halton.
David has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Toronto (Mississauga,
Ontario) and a Master's degree in Public Administration from Queen's University
(Kingston, Ontario.) He is a member of several provincial and national
organizations. In 2005, he was awarded the Rotary International Centennial
Award for Professional Excellence.

Lorna Thomas is the Deputy Chief of the Bank of Canada’s Currency Department (CUR), which is responsible for all aspects of bank notes, banking operations, and retail debt. She joined the Bank of Canada in 1977 after graduating from the University of Saskatchewan with a BA Honours (Economics). She also acquired an MBA through part-time studies at the University of Ottawa.

Lorna currently has oversight responsibilities for bank note development, including longer-term R&D and the development of the next generation of Canadian bank notes to be issued beginning in 2011. In addition, she is responsible for overseeing Economic Research in the currency area. As Deputy Chief of CUR, she has broad responsibility for the overall management of the department and is promoting the NQI’s business excellence framework as a strategy to achieve success. Lorna is also the Bank-wide champion for efforts to promote a superior work environment across all areas of the Bank of Canada.

Earlier in her Bank career, Lorna spent a number of years in the Financial Markets Department, where she was involved primarily in monetary policy implementation and federal debt/treasury management. More recently, she was the Special Assistant to the Governor.

Chris Tipton is Vice President, Strategy for Xerox Canada Ltd. He was appointed to this role in 2008 and is responsible for the company’s strategy, business development, and alliances. Prior to this appointment, Tipton managed the successful transition strategy and sales integration of Xerox’s $1.5 billion acquisition of Global Imaging, Inc.

Previous to this role, Tipton served as Director, Corporate Strategy. In this role, Tipton was responsible for business planning and channel development strategy.

Tipton was also a Global Account General Manager responsible for sales, operational planning, and solution execution for one of Xerox’s largest strategic customers.

Tipton joined Xerox in 1990 as a Marketing Representative in Richmond, Virginia. He has held a variety of sales and sales management positions in both Xerox’s direct sales and services businesses.

Tipton earned his Bachelor of Science degree in marketing from Virginia Polytechnic & State University and received his Masters of Business Administration from Columbia University School of Business.

Tipton and his family reside in Toronto, Canada.
